Stone Treatment

Healing In Warmed Stones

Centuries ago, our ancestors used healing therapy in the form of warmed stones. There are specific stones like, basalt and marble, which have a therapeutic effect on our bodies. Basalt dipped in warm water and applied to strategic points in the body, has a relaxing effect. The full affect is probably felt in about 20 minutes. The stones are smoothed to different sizes. They are also made to suit the part of the body for which they would be used. They differ in weight too. To have a good and proper massage you would need up to 45 stones of different shape, size, and weight. The massaging with the stone is said to be much more effective then using ten fingers. It penetrates and with it brings healing. The pressure applied on the stone is dependant on the need of the patient. Sometimes, alternating stones put in hot and cold water are used. This helps to relax the body and helps it in getting rid of toxins. These smoothened stones are placed on the body. To ensure the body does not get burnt a towel is spread on the person’s body. Applying oil before the massage helps. Some of the commonly used oils are grape seed, olive and rose oil. Different kinds of effects are achieved, be it either keeping a stone between the fingers or toes or by making long strokes with the stones. The smooth nature of the stones helps them in gliding down the body. When working on the legs keep stones between the toes. When working on the hand, keep stones in the palm. These help in the overall effect. Besides having a therapeutic effect, it also has a calming affect. The person feels at peace with the world and with himself/herself, which is very important. The muscles in the body relax. Blood circulation is enhanced. Those indisposed with muscle and backaches, sleeplessness, depression, stress, lack of circulation, multiple sclerosis, and arthritis benefit from such treatment. Bodies crave for some kind of pampering. Warm stone therapy is the ideal solution for this craving. It leaves you with a glow and a beautiful feeling of repose.
